Rich grew up in the Adirondacks of upstate New York, absorbing the sounds of the mountains and the myriad styles of music that came across the AM/FM dial.  He is a classically trained percussionist, and was influenced heavily by the music of the school band: marching, western classical and jazz.

This has led to two diverse recordings: Adirondack Roots, which pays homage to the singer/songwriters of the north country; and his latest release, Christmas Jazz, which brings together blues and jazz ideas with classic songs we all know.
